On December 23, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong and Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang led a delegation to the Center for Higher Education Research (CHER).

Chairperson Guo Yurong swapped ideas with the CHER faculty members as part of a larger goal to learn about its research direction and development focus. She pointed out that SUSTech shoulders the mission of reform and innovation of higher education in China while exploring new talent training models. SUSTech should continue down the path of building a world-class research university rooted in China. Chairperson Guo Yurong hoped that CHER would excel in its pedagogic research into higher education and the reform & innovation at SUSTech.

Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang hoped that the Center would continue to focus on and play a more prominent role in the overall development of SUSTech.

The Center Director Shen Hong and Deputy Director Zhao Jianhua spoke about the short, medium, and long-term development plans. Director Shen Hong also explained what she had achieved since she had taken office and felt that SUSTech’s unique characteristics support its rapid development. She said that she would lead the entire CHER staff to contribute to SUSTech’s goal of becoming a world-class research university, rooted in China.
