Five undergraduate students from the Department of Finance won the southern China round of the 2020 CFA Institute Research Challenge. CHEN Minjia (Team Leader) joined with Chin Chin Tan (International Student), LU Jianxing, LV Bingjie, and PENG Xiaoru, under the mentorship of Department of Finance Assistant Professor LI Peipei, have prepared for this contest for about five months and finally won the local championship on Feb. 16, 2020.

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and professional ethics. Each student is tested on their analytic, valuation, report writing, and presentation skills. They gain real-world experience as they assume the role of a research analyst. It takes place entirely in English and attracts students from over one thousand universities from over ninety-five countries each year.

It is the third time that SUSTech has participated in the CFA Institute Research Challenge, with this group of students breaking through to the best results in the history of the Department of Finance. It reflects the strength of the Department in training top-tier financial talents for mainland China and the Greater Bay Area.

In March 2020, these students will step into a bigger stage and compete with teams from Singapore, South Korea, Japan, and other countries in the Asia Pacific region.
