From July 17 to 19, students from Southern University of Science and Technology excelled in the final stage of the 12th “Challenge Cup” Guangdong college student business plan petition, also known as the Guangdong University Student Entrepreneurship Competition. This year’s virtual competition saw SUSTech students win four gold medals along with nine silver & bronze medals from their thirteen submitted projects. It is the best performance by SUSTech in the competition.
Each of the four projects that won a gold medal for SUSTech provided a unique insight into the team’s perspective on the problem they were looking to solve. It has also demonstrated the positive and enterprising youthful style of SUSTech students.
Class of 2021 student Kaiwen FANG worked with six classmates on the “Lightweight Passive Upper Exoskeleton for Long-term Arm Lifting.”
Masters student Yufeng XUE and doctoral candidate Shibo ZHANG worked with a team of eight other students to create the “Zhibo Ultrasonic Technology Co., Ltd. Ultrasonic Scaplep and Transducer.”
Class of 2020 student Xu HUANG and doctoral student Fengyun ZHANG brought another four students together to develop the “UWB-based centimeter-level real-time locating system.”
Class of 2021 student Feng LIANG co-developed the “MixedCollab Remote Collaboration Solution” with ten other students.
The Challenge Cup series of competitions are held every two years to encourage college students to innovate, meet challenges, and cultivate cross-century innovative talents. Many levels of provincial government support and co-sponsor the Challenge Cup. It is currently the most respected and authoritative college student competition in China and regarded as the Olympiad of technological innovation and entrepreneurship.
