SUSTech outstanding scientist recognized by CAST young scientist grant award

SUSTech Assistant Professor Kejie CHEN (Earth and Space Sciences) was recently selected into the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) Young Talents Support Program. He is part of the 5th batch, representing 2019-2021.

 

 

Assistant Professor Kejie CHEN joined the Department of Earth and Space Sciences (ESS) in September 2019. He has previously studied at the University of Potsdam in Germany, before completing his postdoctoral research at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory at California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He also worked as an Assistant Research Scientist at Caltech before coming to SUSTech.

His research is primarily focused on space geodesy, the joint inversion of the earthquake rupture process, and earthquake & tsunami warning systems. Assistant Professor Kejie CHEN has presented at top academic conferences around the world, such as the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and the European Geosciences Union (EGU), on numerous occasions. He has also won the highest honor at the China Satellite Navigation Conference (CSNC), the Excellent Paper Award. He has published 11 papers in high-impact academic journals such as Nature Communications and Geophysical Research Letters.

CAST established the Young Talents Support Program in 2015. It seeks to provide award winners with subsidies and support for young scientific and technological talents under the age of 32. They can receive support up to 450,000 yuan to enhance their innovative ability and development potential that will help them make outstanding achievements in this golden era of creativity. These pioneering talents will grow into a vital foundation for the continued development of high-level talents that provide an innovative force for major strategic scientific and technological fields.
