Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission visits SUSTech

On August 19, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcomed a delegation from the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission (the Commission). The Commission’s Working Committee Secretary Yan LIU led the delegation, who met with Acting Vice President (Research) Yusheng ZHAO.

The purpose of their visit was to observe the construction and development of the Shenzhen Grubbs Institute.

At the meeting, Acting Vice President (Research) Yusheng ZHAO welcomed the delegation and spoke about the scientific research achievements of SUSTech. Shenzhen Grubbs Institute Executive Dean Haiping XIA provided a detailed briefing about the history of the Shenzhen Grubbs Institute, including its research platforms, talent team development, and research outcomes.

Secretary Yan LIU spoke highly of Shenzhen’s efforts in supporting the development of new R&D institutions. He congratulated the Shenzhen Grubbs Institute for its recent achievements. He also spoke about Shanghai’s policies and plans for science and technology, as he looked forward to furthering exchanges and collaborations between research institutions in Shenzhen and Shanghai.

The Shenzhen Grubbs Institute hosts many academic leaders and is focused on fundamental research on catalytic small molecule synthesis, catalytic polymer synthesis and characterization.
