Research Associate Professor Shuping YI from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE) at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) received the Best Ecological Environmental Science and Technology Researcher Award. The Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences (CSES) announced twenty recipients from top research institutions and universities across China.
Shuping YI was one of the first founding members of ESE. He is also the deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Soil and Underground Water Pollution Control and Restoration, and the general manager of SUSTech Environmental Ltd.
He has presided over 19 scientific and technological projects, participated in 22 projects, published more than 40 papers, and obtained 16 authorized patents. His research achievements run the gamut from the migration mechanism of groundwater pollutants and nuclide migration simulation to soil and groundwater pollution mechanism and restoration.
Shuping Yi has received many awards, including the 2014 “Silver Hammer Award,” the Geological Science and Technology Award for the Youth, first prize in the National Excellent Engineering Consulting Award, and the Provincial and Ministerial Excellent Engineering Consulting Award. He has also served as the reviewer of several academic journals such as Science of the Total Environment, Journal of Hydrology, and Environmental Earth Sciences.
The Best Ecological Environmental Science and Technology Researcher Award seeks to recognize the contribution of the environmental researchers. It also encourages scientific and technological workers to make greater contributions to environmental protection.
