On December 20, the Ninth Session of the Second SUSTech Education Foundation Council Meeting was convened. The Meeting elected the third council of the Foundation.

SUSTech University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO hosted the meeting. She was joined by President Qikun XUE, Vice President of SUSTech Education Foundation Shiyi CHEN, University Council Vice Chairperson Fengliang LI, Vice President of SUSTeh Dongxiao ZHANG, and other senior leaders of the University.

In the meeting, the participants reviewed the work report of the Second Council. They believe that since the Second Council took office in June 2014, with the joint efforts of all members of the council and supports of all teachers and students of the University, it has actively explored a new development model of the education foundation, and played an important role in introducing social donations, enhancing the social influence of the University, and helping the cultural construction of the University. It has gathered a large number of innovative talents who support the development and construction of the University.

After an anonymous vote, 20 people were elected members of the Third Education Foundation Council. Yongning ZHANG and Yang MENG were elected as the Supervisors.

Then, the Third Council held the first session to elect the Chairman of the Education Foundation Council and to examine the relevant management system. Yurong GUO was elected as the Chairman of the Council, Shiyi CHEN was elected as the co-Chairman, Qikun XUE, Fengliang LI, Dongxiao ZHANG, Ming LI, and Jian LUO were elected as the Vice-Chairman, and Qin YE was elected as the Secretary-General.

Yidan CHEN was elected as Honorary Chairman. 3 Honorary Vice-Chairmen and 12 Honorary Directors were also determined.

The meeting reviewed and passed the 2021 work plan and management systems of the Education Foundation Council. All the council members expressed their confidence in the University and shared their ideas for the development of the foundation so that it empowers the innovation of SUSTech.

President XUE congratulated the new members of the council and thanked people from all walks of life for their support for SUSTech and hoped that entrepreneurs would continue to support the University’s reform, innovation and development.

Yurong GUO said that with its standard operation, the Foundation has obtained remarkable results and was rated as the “AAAAA” level, the highest in the rating of social organizations. The new Council of the Foundation will shoulder the responsibility of further innovating the development mechanism and supporting the innovation and development of SUSTech.

 Since its establishment nine years ago, the SUSTech Education Foundation has always borne in mind the mission and responsibility of SUSTech. It has gathered a great number of talents and played an active role in supporting the introduction of talents, supporting teaching, infrastructure construction, and industry-university-research cooperation, which has effectively promoted the development of teaching, scientific research, and high-tech development of the University.
