On the first day of the lunar new year, to enrich the cultural life of faculty and students and create a happy and auspicious festival atmosphere, SUSTech organized a 2021 Spring Festival garden party, with more than 300 groups of faculty and staff families participating in the activities. Fengliang LI, University Council Vice Chairperson attended the activity.
The event was organized by the SUSTech Trade Union. Three games were organized in different areas of the square which was decorated with lanterns and colorful decorations, including making traditional Chinese food, garden tour, and guessing lantern riddles, creating a strong festival atmosphere.
In the area of traditional-Chinese-food-making activity, there was a long line before each stall where participants can try to make food by themselves, including candied haw and sugar-coated figurine.
In the area of traditional handicraft, people learned to knead the dough, make lanterns, and do the paper cutting.
Guessing lantern riddles is a traditional Chinese new year activity. The staff and students were actively involved in the activities.
This year, many faculty members and their families stayed on the campus for the Spring Festival, responding to the calls from the Shenzhen government to not travel due to the current epidemic containment unless it was essential. The University organized series of activities to give them a warm and impressive Spring Festival.
