On April 14, experts of the Higher Education Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education (HEEC) visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and held a meeting with representatives of the University to give their suggestions on the evaluation of SUSTech’s undergraduate teaching.

Haiyan HU, Leader of the expert group and former President of the Beijing Institute of Technology, reported on the inspection opinions of the expert group. He acknowledged the construction and development achievements of SUSTech. He expressed his hope that SUSTech would continue to promote the cultivation of talents, attach equal importance to the development of teaching and scientific research, and march towards the goal of becoming a world-class university.

University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported SUSTech. She said that evaluation is key for SUSTech to make further progress. It helps the University summarize the achievements and experience in its first decade and works as a light that leads SUSTech forward in the future. The University will collect and follow the opinions of the expert group to promote SUSTech’s various undertakings to a new stage.

President Qikun XUE also noted that the opinions of the expert group have greatly encouraged the University. It is a significant milestone for SUSTech to further improve its undergraduate education and the quality of talent training. SUSTech will continue to pursue high-quality connotative development based on the suggestions given by the experts.
