The 2021 undergraduate enrollment list for the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was recently announced. This year, SUSTech admitted 1,160 undergraduate students from 23 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across mainland China.
The admissions of 22 provinces have already been confirmed, while admissions from Guangdong Province will be announced around July 18.
Due to the ongoing epidemic, this year’s enrollment announcement adopted an innovative online and offline format.
The admissions department liaised regularly with candidates through offline communication methods such as meetings and briefings under the premise of strictly abiding by the epidemic prevention and control measures set up. On the other hand, online communication methods also opened various channels for enrollment and exchanges with the candidates.
Due to more stringent epidemic prevention and control measures recently imposed in Guangdong province, the University held an online exam for more than 3,000 candidates for the comprehensive evaluation.
This year’s campus open day welcomed the largest number of participants since the establishment of SUSTech. More than 6,000 students and parents attended the event, while more than 1.7 million people participated through interactive webcasts.
The number of online applications for admission to SUSTech has reached a record high of 44,507. The total number of candidates participating in SUSTech’s ability test reached a record 16,000, increasing 10% from the previous year.
SUSTech adopts the 6+3+1 Undergraduate Admission Model (“631” model). The University entrance score accounts for 60%, the admission test and interview with SUSTech accounts for 30%, while the remaining 10% is based on their high school performance.
The rankings of the provinces with the lowest scores on the college entrance examination for candidates admitted from 22 provinces and regions have all improved. At the same time, the average score of the candidates admitted from the college entrance examination has also increased. The admission notices for sixteen provinces have already been issued, and the remaining seven provinces will be sent out around July 20.
SUSTech’s admission letter box set this year continues with the same theme and color style as last year’s, an orange-colored envelope with a hand-painted campus illustration throughout the box design.
The box contains the admission letter, a letter from the President of SUSTech, a calendar, a popular science book “Hundred Thousand High-Tech Whys,” written by SUSTech scientists, the freshman admission guide, badges, campus map, etc.
