The 2023 Brigham Young University (BYU) Accounting Research Rankings were recently announced, revealing that the Department of Accounting within the College of Business at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) has achieved notable success. It was ranked 183rd globally and 3rd among universities in Chinese mainland.

This marks SUSTech’s fourth inclusion in the prestigious BYU Accounting Research Rankings. Among the 874 institutions worldwide that participated in the 2023 rankings, five universities from Chinese mainland secured places in the top 200.

Additionally, SUSTech has introduced a new undergraduate major in accounting (intelligent accounting direction), which will commence enrollment in 2025. This program will address the evolving needs of modern enterprises and social development, integrating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and machine learning for intelligent processing and analysis of financial data.

Recognized as one of the most respected and objective professional rankings in the field of accounting research, BYU’s Accounting Research Rankings are founded on rigorous criteria, including the number of citations and peer-reviewed articles in 12 major English accounting journals worldwide since 1990. University rankings, within this context, are determined based on the affiliation of the authors of published research findings.
