The Director of Management Committee of SSCZ Mr. He Xuewen visits SUSTC

On the afternoon of May 18, 2015, He Xuewen, the deputy secretary general of Shenzhen Government, member of standing committee and vice mayor of Shanwei City and the director of Management Committee of Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone (SSCZ) paid a visit to SUSTC and had an informal discussion with Chen Shiyi, the president of SUSTC, Ye Qin, the vice director of preparatory office of SUSTC and the relevant department directors.

SUSTC President Professor Shiyi Chen warmly welcomed the director Mr.He Xuewen’s visit and introduced the philosophy of schooling, subject establishment, achievements in industry- university-research cooperation of SUSTC as well as the planning of SUSTC in marine science, environment science and life health science.

The director Mr. He Xuewen introduced the development vision, planning target and construction of SSCZ and pointed out that “SUSTC enjoys the optimal philosophy of schooling and conditions in China and will become the school to be much proud of in China. Both SSCZ and SUSTC are the innovative organization greatly supported by the provincial and municipal government. Under the supports of Guangdong Province, Shenzhen City and Shanwei City, SSCZ will greatly develop the six industries such as information technology, life health, marine science, aerospace, coastal tourism and international trade and is willing to join hands with SUSTC to develop in-depth industry- university-research cooperation”. 

Mr.He and the delegation also visited the campus.

About SSCZ:

Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone (SSCZ) was formally established upon the approval of Basic Framework Scheme of Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone by Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Guangdong Provincial Government on February 18, 2011. On May 21, 2011, Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Guangdong Provincial Government granted “Working Committee of SSCZ of China Communist Party” and “Management Committee of SSCZ” to Shenzhen and Shanwei, which meant the formal operation of SSCZ.

Located in the Southeast of Guangdong Province and between the Pearl River Delta Plain and Chaoshan Plain, SSCZ borders on Huidong County, Huizhou City in the west and north, connects Haifeng County, Shanwei City in the east and faces Honghai Bay in the south, so it is no doubt the bridge tower for eastern Guangdong to reach Pearl River Delta. SSCZ currently covers Ebu, Xiaomo, Houmen and Chishi Town of Haifeng County, Shanwei City, covering an area of 468.3 sq. km., with the construction land of 145 sq. km., the length of the coastal line of 42.5km and the permanent resident population of 71,000.
