UTeM Delegation Visits SUSTech

On the afternoon of March 21, Mr. Azhar bin Mohamed, Senior Legal Adviser to Technical University of Malaysia Malacca, UTeM and Special Official to Malacca Governor Office, and Md.Nor Hayati bin Tahir, Director of UTeM International Relations Office visited SUSTech. SUSTech Chief Operating Officer LuChun, Director Hou Shengtao of International Cooperation Department and Executive Dean Sun Xiaowei of School of Engineering met with the visitors.

Lu Chun expressed welcome to the delegation. He pointed out SUSTech attaches great emphasis on international development and will continue to expand collaboration with world-class universities. He hoped excellent universities in SE Asia can become partners of SUSTech. Hou Shengtao introduced basic info of SUSTech to the visitors, focusing on international characteristics and major results and progress made by SUSTech in its international development.

Mr. Azhar bin Mohamed introduced the background of the visit and overview of UTeM. He said delegation from Guangdong Provincial Government, when visiting Malaysia last September, signed MOU with Malacca. To push forward partnership between the 2 parties, the delegation was entrusted by Malacca government to visit a few excellent universities in Guangdong Province to seek cooperation. He also said, UTeM is located in Malacca as the World Cultural Heritage City. The University is highly autonomous in terms of finance and student management. All courses adopt full-English teaching while emphasizing on R&D and innovations. Besides, the University is active in promoting university-enterprise cooperation. As a new-type modern university, UTeM and SUSTech have many common points. He hoped to establish contacts and get into cooperation with SUSTech in the fields of common interest so as to share SUSTech experience in rapid development. 

The 2 parties also discussed in detail about specific cooperation between them. 
The delegation also studied the sand map for SUSTech building and development to know its campus plan. 

Technical University of Malaysia Malacca, UTeM is the 14th public university in Malaysia. Established in 2000, it is located in Malacca, the World Cultural Heritage City. The University adopts pedagogy centered on practice and application so that it takes the leading position in advanced technical education in Malaysia. The University has 7 schools, e.g., School of Electrical Engineering, School of Electrics and Computer Engineering, School of Machinery Engineering, School of Manufacturing Engineering, School of Information and Telecom Technology, School of Technical Management & Innovations and School of Engineering Technologies.
