Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong visited Chaoyang Experimental School and Shantou Jinshan Middle School. Both these schools are important for the city of Chaoshan in eastern Guangdong.

Chairperson Guo Yurong gave a keynote speech on the topic of “Innovation wins the Future,” and talked with teachers and students. She also awarded both schools with a plaque denoting them as SUSTech “Excellent Students Base.”

Chairperson Guo Yurong said that SUSTech had benefited from China’s education reform and strong support from Guangdong Province and Shenzhen. SUSTech is equipped with an international high level of teaching staff, and the quality of students continues to improve. She hoped more outstanding students from the Chaoshan area continue to choose SUSTech.

Both Chaoyang Experimental School President Zhang Fuchang and Shantou Jinshan Middle School Principal Li Lili said that they trusted SUSTech’s teaching ideas. They would promote cooperation and exchanges with each other.

Subsequently, Chairperson Guo Yurong made the “Innovation wins the Future” speech. She referred to the Jade Rabbit 2, a lunar rover, which left the first ever “footprint” from a human spacecraft on the far side of the moon as an example to make students understand the purpose of innovative universities. Then, she encouraged and invited students to join SUSTech. Many students said that they would study hard and strive to enter SUSTech to achieve their dreams.
