The Conference 

On September 1, the STA Conference was held with over 400 participants from the field of science and technology. The assembly heard and examined the work statement of the fifth committee of Shenzhen STA and constituted new leadership of Shenzhen STA by election. Deputy Director Jiang Yuyang of the Standing Committee of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress was elected as the Committee Chairman of the Sixth Shenzhen STA Assembly. 

The Conference also presented Shenzhen Science and Technology Award of 2014 and 2015, including Shenzhen Mayor’s Award for Science and Technology (the Mayor’s Award), 11 awards in natural sciences, 13 technological invention awards, 116 awards for science and technology progress, 16 youth science and technology awards, 50 patent awards and 28 standard awards. Dr. Chen Yifan of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of SUSTech won the Youth Science and Technology Award, the first Youth Science and Technology Award of SUSTech since its establishment. Dr. Chen has led more than ten Chinese and foreign fund programs and made prominent contributions in disciplinary establishment.
