Sino-US High Level Energy Forum held at SUSTech, SUSTech Clean Energy Research Institute inaugurated

On the morning of October 17, 2016, the Sino-US High Level Energy Forum hosted by Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) took place at the lecture hall of the No. 1 research building of SUSTech. Prof. Steven Chu, a Nobel laureate in physics; Academician Xie Kechang, former Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE); Academician Li Jinghai, Vice President of CAE and Vice President of the China Association for Science and Technology; Chairwoman of University Council Guo Yurong and Vice President of Wu Chuanyue attended the forum. Zhao Yusheng, Director of the Office of Research, SUSTech, chaired the forum.

At the forum, the three experts shared their years of research findings and opinions on energy. At the ensuing inaugural ceremony of the SUSTech Clean Energy Research Institute, Chu, Xie, Li, Guo and Wu unveiled the institute. Academician Liu Ke presided over the inaugural ceremony. He announced that Xie and Li would be recruited to the advisory committee of the institute.

Based on SUSTech’s research talents and infrastructure, the institute will work with SUSTech’s schools and departments. With the ultimate goal of engineering application and industrialization, the two sides will allocate research tasks in a scientific and rational manner, and conduct joint R&D
