A Delegation Led by President Chen Shiyi Visits Johns Hopkins University for Strengthening Cooperation

From May 6th to 9th, CHEN Shiyi, President of SUSTech, with other delegates visited School of Medicine and Whiting School of Engineering of Johns Hopkins University and talked about cooperation. Vice President WU Chuanyue, Chief Operating Officer LU Chun, Executive Dean of Engineering School SUN Xiaowei and Chair of Chemistry department ZHANG Xumu met with the delegates at JHU. 

Paul Rothman, CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine, extended a warm welcome to President Chen and the other delegates. He recalled the cooperation between the two universities since August 2015. A number of cooperation and exchanges have been made with positive results. ROTHMAN said that the school expects opportunities to work with SUSTech and expresses confidence in the prospects for bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, a timetable for establishing the SUSTech Medicine School, international education cooperation, and further deepening the cooperation have been discussed. After the meeting, the delegation visited JHU Medicine Simulation Center, accompanied by Charles Wiener, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Medical Director, Johns Hopkins Medicine International.

On May 6th, President CHEN visited Whiting School of Engineering of Johns Hopkins University. Dean Ed Schlesinger, Vice Dean Andrew Douglas, Ed Scheinerman, Dexter Smith and Prof. Hedy Alavi, Prof. Evan MA were also attended the meeting.

Before the meeting, Philip TANG, Vice Provost held talks with President CHEN. CHEN said that SUSTech would continue increasing its input and try its best to support the cooperation programme in joint program, research students short –term exchange program and other fields. Ed Schlesinger made many valuable comments and suggestions. Vice President WU Chuanyue, Chief Operating Officer LU Chun, Executive Dean of Engineering School SUN Xiaowei and Chair of Chemistry department ZHANG Xumu also attended the meeting.
