3rd Shenzhen International Life Science and Health Industry Summit held at SUSTech

On November 11, 2016, the “3rd Shenzhen International Life Science & Health Industry Summit” was held at Lecture Hall 1 of the No. 1 research building of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). The summit was organized by Shenzhen Horae Capital Management (Group) Co., Ltd. (Horae Capital) and SUSTech.

Prof. Craig C. Mello, a 2006 Nobel laureate in physiology and medicine; Prof. Gao Guangping, a renowned international genetic therapist; Prof. Michael R. Green, a fellow of the US National Academy of Sciences; Prof. Wei Yuquan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice President of Sichuan University; Prof. Ning Guang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice President of Ruijin Hospital Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine; Prof. Xu Guotong, President of Tongji University School of Medicine; Prof. Wang Xiaoning, Director of the Research Institute of Geriatrics, Chinese PLA General Hospital; Pro. Ji Weizhi, Director of the Research Center of Primate Translational Medicine, Kunming University of Science and Technology; and other experts attended the summit and delivered speeches.

Sun Meihua, Deputy Director of the Health and Family Planning Commission of Shenzhen Municipality (SZHFPC); Wang Youming, Director-General of Invest Shenzhen; Therese Murray, former President of the Massachusetts Senate; Qi Yue, Chairman of Horae Capital; and Guo Yurong, Chairperson of SUSTech attended and addressed the summit.

Guo extended warm welcome to the experts and scholars present on behalf of SUSTech. “With the strong support of relevant departments in Shenzhen, the summit has been held successfully twice, playing a positive role in Shenzhen’s efforts to building a life science highland, cultivating health industry clusters and enhancing the international influence of Shenzhen’s medical services,” said her.

At the invitation of the Department of Biology, SUSTech, the summit brought together more than 150 experts, scholars and capital investment tycoons from renowned research institutes and medical institutions at home and abroad. With focus on the new opportunity for the integration of cutting-edge medical technologies with capital, they discussed the latest progress of inherited metabolic disorders and genetic therapy techniques, and offered advice on cultivating health industry clusters from Shenzhen and promoting the globalization of Shenzhen’s medical level, in a bid to promote Shenzhen to build a life science highland, optimize its industrial structure, cultivate health industry clusters and enhance the overall international influence of medical health services. The summit was supported by SZHFPC and Invest Shenzhen.
