SUSTech writing scholars attend Chinese Writing Society Meeting

Last weekend saw five experts from the Humanities Center of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) participate in the 2019 Annual Academic Conference of the Chinese Writing Society. These SUSTech scholars represent the pinnacle of writing pedagogy and the “Writing and Communication” classes at SUSTech.

The 2019 Annual Academic Conference of the Chinese Writing Society saw more than 200 scholars from 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities from across the country flock to Guangxi University for Nationalities to focus on the social context and dynamism of writing in the new era.” Lively discussions and exchanges took place around writing theory, teaching and ecology for the new era.

The five SUSTech experts were invited to speak at the conference. Liu Yang and Chen Jinsong gave individual keynote speeches entitled “Innovation in Plotlines of Science Fiction—Theories and Examples” and “Writing in the AI Era.” Yang Guo, Yang Li and Zhou Xiumei each presented individual reports on the design, practice and reflections on the “Writing and Communication” course at SUSTech.

The scholars from the Humanities Center were praised for their writing and communication course by experts and scholars in attendance. The SUSTech delegation received many requests for future collaborations in order to develop and strengthen their courses together.
