Jinhua Municipal Committee’s Minister of Communications Lin Danjun and his Entourage Visit SUSTech for Research

On May 11th 2017, Jinhua Municipal Committee’s Minister of Communications Lin Danjun, Vice Mayor Tao Yeping and accompanying guests such as Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau deputy inspector Lai Qunyang arrived at SUSTech with the goal of completing a study on the university. Han Wei, Director of Residential College, Zhang Ling, Minister of Communications and Public Relations, and representatives of the relevant departments met with the guests to discuss the local colleges and universities paths to explore in terms of development strategy in the administrative building’s International Conference Hall.

Lai Qunyang welcomed Lin Danjun and her entourage to visit Shenzhen and introduced the innovative development of higher education in the city.

Han Wei also welcomed the delegation to SUSTech and gave a detailed presentation on the general profile of the university, its philosophy and characteristics, the “three stage” development strategy, discipline construction, faculty development, personnel training, and the goal of becoming an international institution. She underlined that SUSTech actively promotes international-oriented education, continues to strengthen personnel training, promotes innovative talent recruitment and boosts the industrialization of its research, which are all critical aspects of becoming a high-level research university.

Lin Danjun introduced the current status of higher education in Jinhua City and the problems faced by high-level colleges and universities. She expressed admiration for SUSTech’s avant-garde philosophy and management, and highly praised the achievements made by the university in the recruitment of professors and graduates as well as in the field of internationalization. She said she hoped to draw lessons from the pioneering experience of the university and establish a closer relationship with it.

At the talks, the head of the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau also briefed the delegation on the construction of speciality colleges in Shenzhen.

The delegation raised questions about the university’s system and mechanism, the construction of the campus culture, the teaching and training, and the specific measures of its internationalization.

Before the talks began, the delegation visited SUSTech’s building planning sand table and college, and enjoyed a short presentation video on the university.
