President Chen Shiyi Visits Seoul National University to Establish Exchanges and Cooperation Program

On May 24th 2017, SUSTech President Chen Shiyi paid a visit to Seoul National University in South Korea and was warmly received by his counterpart Nak-in Sung. The two sides held talks on future exchanges and close collaboration, with the common pursuit of international development in sight.

 

Chen introduced the spirit of innovation and the vigorous development of SUSTech and the broad ranging partnerships with local industries, explaining that the area is growing into an international innovation-driven city. Chen said that SUSTech is committed to building an international, entrepreneurial research university, and wants to actively explore cooperation with the world’s top institutions. He said that Seoul National University is Korea’s most outstanding comprehensive research university, and he hoped to carry out fruitful common education projects and academic exchanges, and sincerely invited President Nak-in Sung to visit SUSTech.

Sung went on to praise the rapid development of SUSTech, and its distinctive characteristics which provides it major development advantages. He said that Seoul National University was looking forward to working together and accepted the invitation to visit.

Prof. Lu Chun, Principal Associate Vice President of International Affairs and Chief Operating Officer of SUSTech, and Seoul National University’s Head of R & D Fund, Seong-Cheol Kim, Department of Aeronautics and Mechanics Chair Professor Hui-Jae Phak, and many other guests attended the meeting.

 

During the visit, Chen had a tour of the workshop and the guest spaces of the Seoul National University College of Engineering which he had already visited in July 2014 when he visited Korea for the first time.
