On December 28, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held its Homecoming party with more than 150 alumni and faculty returning to campus to celebrate the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020. SUSTech University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang, Human Resources Director Chen Zhifeng, Student Affairs Director Xue Zheng, and School of Humanities and the Social Sciences Dean Chen Yuehong all attended the homecoming party.
University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang welcomed everyone to the homecoming party. He reviewed the achievements of SUSTech in 2019 and said that SUSTech is continuing to work with its alumni to develop as a world-class research university.
Alumni Association Vice Secretary-General Geng Jun spoke about the development of the Alumni Association in 2019. She discussed the plans for 2020 within the broad umbrella of promoting the joint development of both SUSTech and its alumni.
2019 marked the first time the Alumni Development Fund received targeted donations. One such contribution was from Shenzhen Lingyu Education Technology, founded by Class of 2017 graduate Lin Rongyu. His gift will be used to set up the Lingyu Scholarship.
Several awards were given to alumni or alumni organizations for their enthusiasm and active participation in alumni activities.
The Alumni Association also played a short video titled “Alumni Style – Our Story.” It told the story of four different alumni and their positive spirit. It was followed by the beautiful broadcast of the sand painting, “SUSTech and I.” A number of other events saw a warm atmosphere throughout the night.
