On December 28, the Alumni Development Fund (Fund) of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) received its first donation from an alumni enterprise, which was acknowledged as part of the 2019 Alumni annual meeting and party.
The donation came from Shenzhen Lingyu Education Technology, founded by Class of 2017 graduate Lin Rongyu. His gift will be used to set up the Lingyu Scholarship.
Lin Rongyu graduated with a B.Sc in Physics and was a Top Ten Graduate in 2017. He continued his academic pursuits at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, where he got his master’s degree, studying the application of machine learning in materials physics under Professors Li Xiaohong and Vincent Tung. Shenzhen Lingyu Education Technology Co., Ltd. has established the Universal Beyond International education brand, which is committed to creating a better teaching interaction platform for teachers and students through the Internet and artificial intelligence technology.
The Lingyu Scholarship is divided into five different categories. The five scholarships, split into the Outstanding Individual Award, the Scientific Research and Exploration Award, the Entrepreneurship award, the Transformation Award and the Persistence Award, all seek to commend students who perform well in learning, scientific research, social practice, and entrepreneurship, as well as students who strive to make breakthroughs.
The Fund is a special education fund initiated by the Alumni Association. It is mainly used to set up scholarships, alumni love relief projects, support the construction of local alumni associations, appropriately support alumni to enter school and start-up businesses. It is committed to supporting the lifelong career development of alumni. The Fund receives donations from people, enterprises, and social organizations.
