On February 21, Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress Deputy Director Pei Lei led a delegation to Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) to check the containing and prevention work across the campus.

SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, Preparatory Office of Affiliated Hospitals Director Wang Pengfei, and Secretary-General Chen Siqi all attended the meeting. Officials from the Shenzhen Municipal Government and SUSTech also attended the meeting.

Deputy Director Pei Lei and the delegation received a briefing of SUSTech’s unremitting efforts in preventing and controlling COVID-19 on campus. It covered the scientific research outcomes, laboratory safety management, and the work of Associate Professor Sun Dazhi (Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)), who developed anti-fog disinfectant wipes for safety goggles. The anti-fog disinfectant wipes have now entered production and distributed to support the battle against COVID-19.

The delegation’s next stop was the self-isolation area in the student’s residential area. Deputy Director Pei Lei praised SUSTech for its rapid response during this challenging time.

She pointed out that the battle against COVID-19 is now entering a critical stage. SUSTech should continue to maintain its endeavors in ensuring the health of the entire community.

SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong said that SUSTech remains a safe and stable place, with teaching and research continuing as much as possible.

The SUSTech community will continue to fight against COVID-19 while minimizing the disruption to our students’ education and research.
