On March 17, a group of 12 alumni donated some personal protective equipment (PPE) to Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). SUSTech University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang, in his capacity as Alumni Association Executive Vice Chairperson, attended the donation ceremony along with other leading figures at SUSTech.

Alumni Association vice president Zhang Jinsong initiated the donation, with the American branch of the Alumni Association donating 3,700 masks. He said that SUSTech alumni across the world had been worried about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and wanted to help in the fight against COVID-19.

The donation of masks was intended to help the SUSTech community return to normality, and the masks would significantly support that goal while fighting COVID-19.

University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang thanked the alumni for their donation, which represents their continued support for their alma mater. SUSTech remains concerned about the health and safety of its global community and aims to maintain closely connected to its alumni in the years to come.

The American branch of the Alumni Association was quick to raise funds while also procuring PPE. As of March 7, they raised US$3,591 (RMB13,774.99) as well as masks. The funds and PPE have been donated to the Second People’s Hospital of Dawu County, Xiaogan City, Hubei Province, with the assistance of the Hubei Charity Foundation.
