SUSTech welcomes Swiss Ambassador to China and his delegation

On the morning of March 29, 2021, Swiss Ambassador to China Bernardino Regazzoni and his delegation visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, and Chunmiao ZHENG, Vice Provost for Global Strategies, welcomed the guests.

Bernardino Regazzoni and his delegation observed the University’s campus model, the exhibition of development and achievements, and research facilities. They also visited the Institute of Risk Analysis, Prediction, and Management (Risks-X), jointly established between SUSTech and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zürich (ETH Zürich).

President Qikun XUE gave a brief summary of the current state of affairs of SUSTech. He hopes that SUSTech can deepen its exchanges with Swiss universities, companies and institutions, and jointly cultivate top innovative talents.

Ambassador Regazzoni spoke highly of the rapid growth and development of SUSTech. He acknowledged the innovative approach by the University and expressed his full support for the continued development of Risks-X.

Other members of Ambassador Regazzoni’s delegation included Martin Bienz, Consul General of Switzerland in Guangzhou, Didier Vuarnoz, Head of Science, Technology and Education Section of the Embassy of Switzerland in China, and Yves Reymond, Head of Economic, Financial and Commercial Section of the Embassy of Switzerland in China.

Xiaofei CHEN, Head of the Department of Earth and Space Sciences, Junguo LIU, Associate Dean of the School of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, and Ke WU, Research Assistant Professor of Risks-X, also attended the meeting.
