Chancellor of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology visits SUSTech

Xingao GONG, Chancellor of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and his delegation recently visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

Hongwei FANG, Vice President and Provost of SUSTech, Jinfeng JIA, Acting Vice President, other members of the University’s leadership team, and heads of related departments held discussions with the guests.

In his remarks, Vice President Hongwei FANG discussed SUSTech’s state of affairs in recent years. He noted that SUSTech has formulated a set of approaches of “Three Major Development Strategies” and “Five Major Action Plans” to strive to build a new type of research university with important global influence.

He hopes that SUSTech will strengthen cooperation with GTIIT, where both parties can take advantage of each other’s expertise in various areas such as discipline building, talent training, and scientific research.

At the meeting, Acting Vice President Jinfeng JIA familiarized everyone with the cooperation between the two parties.

He noted that both sides already have a solid foundation for cooperation. He hopes that they could further strengthen collaborations and make more significant contributions to promote the high-quality development of Guangdong Province.

Xingao GONG acknowledged the achievements made by SUSTech in recent years and briefly introduced the history and current state of affairs of GTIIT.

He added that he is confident that both sides would further promote cooperation and exchanges, and strengthen in areas such as talent training and scientific research platforms.

During their visit, Xingao GONG and his delegation were also given a guided tour of the campus.
