Hainan University Party Committee Deputy Chief Visits SUSTech

On April 21, Hainan University Council Party Committee Deputy Chief Liao Qinglin led a delegation to visit SUSTech. President Chen Shiyi and University Council Deputy Chairperson Li Fengliang welcomed the guests and held a meeting.

President Chen introduced a set of beneficial policies for fostering talent at SUSTech. He also assured attendees that SUSTech would stick to its goals and missions by implementing Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent instructions, delivered at the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the founding of Hainan province and the Hainan Special Economic Zone. SUSTech and Hainan University, using their respective advantages, shall collaborate in building scientific innovation platforms that help with the development of national strategies.

Li Fengliang presented the impacts, talents, scientific research platforms and campus development to show the progress SUSTech has made in building a world-class research university. He indicated that SUSTech should promote the interactions between university and the city with the three pillars of “Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.” Li also suggested that importance of making a comprehensive plan for campus development encompassing the major strategic plans of the country, the province, and the city.

Liao Qinglin introduced the operations of Hainan University. He said that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s keynote speech put forward news requirement for further progress in Hainan University’s development.

“With an advanced educational philosophy and internationalized model for running a university, SUSTech has become a good example for other universities to follow,” said Liao Qinglin. “I hope that both of us can strengthen our communication and co-operate to promote higher education in southern China.”

Furthermore, the Offices of the President, Party Committee, and Strategic Planning at Hainan University were joined by SUSTech’s Offices of Party Affairs and Administration, Finance, and Strategic Planning, to share ideas and provide helpful suggestions for their future operational needs.
