UQ Deputy Vice-Chancellor Visits SUSTech

Mr. Rongyu Li, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Queensland (UQ), brought a delegation to SUSTech. They were greeted by President Chen Shiyi and Provost and Vice President Tang Tao.

Both sides had a long meeting about postgraduate education, undergraduate exchanges, and joint education programs. They also discussed Emerging Engineering Education models. The focus of the discussions was on the cultivating high-level talents and fostering university-industry collaborations and that in public health. Both sides talked about the importance of creating relevant academic interdisciplinary studies, now and into the future.

Following the meeting, UQ Deputy Vice-Chancellor Li and his delegation visited SUSTech’s Cryo-Electron Microscopy Laboratory to learn about the experimental platforms used on campus, as well as the undergraduate education.

Other attendees from UQ included Prof. Pankaj Sah, Director of the Queensland Brain Institute, Prof. Aleksander Rakic, Associate Dean of  Faculty of Engineering and Dr. Jessica Gallagher, Director of the Global Engagement Office.

SUSTech attendees included Prof. Zheng Chunmiao, Vice Provost (Global Strategies) and Director of Global Engagement Office, Thomas Schneider, Associate Vice President (International Affairs), and Prof. Zhang Bi, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs  of College of Engineering.
