Acting Mayor of Taizhou City Zhang Xiaoqiang led a delegation to visit Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, University President Chen Shiyi, and University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang talked with the guests.

Zhang Xiaoqiang and his entourage visited the 3D campus construction sand table where they heard about the overall plans for the development of SUSTech.

University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong thanked Taizhou City for their concern about SUSTech. She said that Taizhou and SUSTech have many similar qualities, such as the willingness to try and the pursuit of innovation. She hoped that both sides could carry out further cooperation in the future following the experience accumulated from their previous collaboration

SUSTech President Chen Shiyi welcomed Zhang Xiaoqiang and his delegation. He said that as a research university, SUSTech should strengthen application-oriented research, take a panoramic view of the world situation, grasp market dynamics and master core technologies. He hoped that both sides would strengthen their cooperation and promote future industrial transformation.

Li Fengliang introduced how SUSTech operates to the Taizhou City delegation, including aspects of talent training, the development of the teacher team, the construction of academic disciplines, and international exchanges.

Zhang Xiaoqiang introduced the basic situation of Taizhou City. He said that Taizhou City and SUSTech would continue to have a good foundation for cooperation around industrial projects and research institutes. He hoped that we could further strengthen cooperation, accelerate industrial transformation, and create a new model of school-site cooperation.

Deputy Mayor of Taizhou City Rui Hong and Secretary General of Taizhou City Municipal Government Lin Jinrong were members of the delegation. SUSTech Chief Financial Officer Ye Qin, Presidential Executive Council member Wang Susheng and SUSTech Secretary-General Chen Siqi attended the meeting.

After the meeting, Zhang Xiaoqiang and his party visited the Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center.
