This morning, Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen Wang Lixin followed up on his attendance at the International Advisory Council (IAC) meeting of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) by visiting the SUSTech campus. SUSTech President Chen Shiyi, SUSTech Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, Vice President Lu Chun were among the many senior university leaders who met the Shenzhen Municipal Government delegation.

The delegation was first taken to the 3D campus construction planning sand table, where they were briefed on the future development plans of SUSTech. The groups from the Shenzhen Municipal Government and SUSTech then sat down for a meeting, where they discussed the recommendations from the IAC meeting that finished on Tuesday.

President Chen Shiyi and Chairperson Guo Yurong thanked the Shenzhen Municipal Government for their robust and continual support for SUSTech. They stated that the future development of SUSTech would need to have the passionate support of the Shenzhen Municipal Government.

Deputy Mayor Wang Lixin expressed his appreciation to the senior leaders of SUSTech for being excellent role models for students and other members of the SUSTech community. He anticipated that SUSTech would become a shining star for higher education in Shenzhen, adding momentum to Shenzhen’s global competitiveness and committed support to SUSTech from the Shenzhen Municipal Government. He pointed out that all departments of the Shenzhen Municipal Government should support SUSTech in their own strategic ways. Deputy Mayor Wang Lixin expected that SUSTech would maintain its efforts in developing a talent pipeline for new talents and growth mindsets in its existing talents. He also hoped that faculty members would continue to break through the cutting-edge of science as they conduct world-class scientific research.
