Over 200 key middle school principals joined forum on educational evaluation reform

The end of November saw Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) host the Forum on educational evaluation reform and 2018 Annual Meeting of the National K12 Education Quality Assurance Alliance.

These events were jointly sponsored by the SUSTech affiliated education group and Institute of Educational Assessment of the East China Normal University.SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong greeted more than 200 principals and teachers from more than 100 key middle schools nationwide.

The forum aims to promote communication between alliance member middle schools, provide a strong guarantee for the development of high-quality teaching and education, and reduce the distance between universities and secondary schools. It also seeks to encourage collaboration to discuss the transformation of the evaluation method in the era of AI.

Guo Yurong welcomed the guests from all over the country. She said that the meetings put forward new requirements for education. The fourth industrial revolution, represented by artificial intelligence, is reshaping our way of learning.

Huang Kefu, Vice Provost at SUSTech, briefed the audience on the training of innovative talents, and gave a comprehensive introduction on the University’s talent training, disciplines, faculty and research.

Subsequently, Chen Yukun, Dean of the Institute of Examination and Evaluation of East China Normal University, gave a report, and said that AI has entered a new stage and brought forth new opportunities and challenges to us. It is a great opportunity for us to improve the quality of education and cultivate talents through the reform of evaluation mode.

Liu Peng, Dean of Research Institute of Big Data in Nanjing, Chu Zhaohui, researcher from National Institute of Education Sciences, Ye Wenzi, Dean of the Institute of Education Sciences in Shenzhen, and Sun Xianliang, Principal of Qingdao No. 2 Middle School, also presented reports today.
