On the morning of August 8, 2016, Harlan Levine, CEO of City of Hope Medical Foundation (hereinafter referred to as City of Hope), and his delegation visited SUSTech to conduct research on medical cooperation between the two sides. In the Administration Building, Guo Yurong, Chairwoman of University Council, held a meeting with guests from City of Hope. Heads of Office of General Affairs, Office of Research, Office of Global Engagement, Preparatory Office of Medical School, Department of Biology and Program of Biomedical Engineering also attended the meeting.

Guo Yurong extended a warm welcome to the delegation of City of Hope. She noted that SUSTech is a young and energetic university that aims to become a top-tier international university that is research oriented, and that the university enjoys a good development momentum. Guo briefed the delegation on the development of SUSTech and showed confidence for the cooperation between the two sides.

Harlan Levine expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of SUSTech. According to Harlan, both SUSTech and Shenzhen are extremely energetic, and are very suitable for City of Hope to develop itself in China. He introduced the general situation of City of Hope and expressed his intention to cooperate with SUSTech to build a leading medical center and a first class medical school.

Representatives from Office of Research, Office of Global Engagement, Program of Biomedical Engineering and Preparatory Office of Medical School introduced SUSTech from multiple aspects and discussed with the delegation on specific issues about the cooperation.
