During the lecture, Cheng presented the complex global situation of higher education, and cited a number of cases which show the major trends, providing a wonderful explanation of how education in the post-industrial era has managed to release mankind’s potential, and that making it cross-border was exponentially leveraging talents.

He also takes the rehabilitation of brain patients as an example to tell the story of how human activities can have an important impact on the brain. He encouraged the students to “become active learners” and recommended professors “provide students with free learning space,” and respect individual differences.

He asked professors and students to think about “what is a university?” To summarize the main characteristic of world-class universities, he said that to become one of the world’s top educational institutions, the key is to provide a “rich student experience.”

The lecture was followed by an question and answer session during which the students and professors in the audience were able to exchange with Dr. CHENG who was delighted to give them enthusiastic and comprehensive answers.
