Late last week, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcomed SUSTech graduate (Class of 2017) Fang Chen back to campus. He met with Vice Dean of the Department of Finance Yang Zhaojun, SUSTCEF Secretary-General Tu Ronghui and Deputy Secretary-General of the SUSTech Alumni Association Geng Jun, to donate a sizeable sum to the SUSTech Alumni Development Fund.
Fang Chen graduated from the Department of Finance in 2017 and is currently the chairman of Shenzhen Kongye Technology. The donation will see the creation of scholarships for outstanding students studying within the Department of Finance.
Fang Chen said that he wanted to donate to attract more donations from alumni, to help develop SUSTech more and invest in the future. He hoped that the scholarships would encourage students to study harder and generally pursue excellence in their lives.
Alumni Association Deputy Secretary-General Geng Jun thanked Fang Chen for his donation. She said that the development of SUSTech is inseparable from the strength of SUSTech’s alumni. This is the first donation to the SUSTech Alumni Development Fund by alumni, so it is hoped that this will inspire other alumni to donate in the future.
Department of Finance Vice-Dean Yang Zhaojun also thanked Fang. He provided a briefing about the Department of Finance and hoped that the donation would encourage other alumni from the Department of Finance to stay in contact.
SUSTCEF Secretary-General Tu Ronghui added that the Education Foundation would work with the Alumni Association to provide better support for the development of all alumni’s lifelong career development.
The SUSTech Alumni Development Fund is a special fund jointly sponsored by the Alumni Association and SUSTCEF. It is mainly used for supporting the development of local alumni association branches, organizing and carrying out alumni work seminar, and subsidizing appropriate alumni entrepreneurial efforts.
